Available everywhere in The Drift, they could automatically produce several type of objects, going from a toilet seat to even a sock and a sports energy drink. "Driftgoers" were able to purchase the items from the Hugomats using its coin slot and digital panel.
However, all the machines were secretly connected in a single network to identify potentially useful components or raw material in each pod from the Drift so Hugo could use them to build his Unity Pod, allowing he and his team to escape the space station on the verge of collapse.
After Hugo sabotaged the Drift with resource exploitation and became trapped in the vacuum of space, the station began to be rebuilt and the Hugomats were completely abandoned. They can be seen damaged, powerless and covered by plants in the Fionna & Cake episode "Prismo the Wishmaster", showing what the Plaza from the Drift looks like decades after the events of "BMO".
Appearance
It is a large white cylindrical capsule with a blue glass, a flashy hologram, a coin slot, a blue keyboard, an item ejector compartment, and black tubes. When manufacturing an item, it resembles a 3D printer with the addition of two plates that look like small solar panels that polish the product with seemingly electrical effects.
Trivia
Two sapient bugs called Sweetie and Darling were seen stealing printed items from the Hugomats.
They also accidentally found a flash drive in a Hugomat from the Communications Pod, containing the map of a resource exploiting interconnected network, which BMO then copied the data and exposed Hugo's plan to the people in the Drift.
