History
Life first appears in the short animated film "The Gift That Reaps Giving". In this short, she is depicted as a mysterious cosmic entity, connected to Death, and reveals a gentle yet powerful nature through her reflections on her experiences and relationships.
She then makes a brief appearance in "Frog Seasons: Winter", when it is revealed that the Frog wearing the crown transforms into Life after putting it on. By touching the snow with a green liquid she exudes, she melts a large snow-covered mountain, turning it into a lush hill with trees and flowers.
In Adventure Time: Distant Lands – Together Again, Life receives a more crucial role. It is revealed that she is the deity responsible for the cycle of reincarnation and the transmigration of souls. Souls that travel to the Dead Worlds (worlds of the afterlife) end up in her underwater garden, where she shapes new clay bodies so they can be reborn in the world of the living.
His son, New Death, decides to interrupt Reincarnation, threatening the balance of the universe's natural cycle. Outraged by this decision, Life opposes him and gives Finn and Jake the "Kiss of Life," a special artifact that allows them to kill Death and trigger the ensuing crisis.
Appearance
Life takes the appearance of two green snakes twirled around each other, one a darker color than the other. The snakes heads meet up and look directly at each other almost always, even when she speaks. Both the snakes have yellow, cat-like eyes with a red pupil. Her right leg is a darker green than her left, similar, her left arm to her right, proposing each snake is protruding an arm and a leg each. She wears a chocolate colored dress consisting of two brown ribbons with a golden stripe in the middle, twisting around her, and covering her from the knees to her shoulders.
Personality
Abilities
Life is a cosmic entity, one of the fundamental forces of the multiverse. It represents the cycle of birth, rebirth, and creation itself, with powers that go far beyond what most mortals can imagine.
- Immortality: As a cosmic entity, it is immortal. It does not age, nor is it subject to natural death.
- Life creation: She is able to create new forms and living beings by touching objects, even unintentionally (e.g., a flower that grows when she touches Death).
- Environmental transformation: Life can modify the environment on a large scale. For example, it melts a mountain of snow and transforms it into a green hill full of life.
- Mastery of reincarnation: She welcomes souls into her underwater garden and fashions new bodies from clay so that these souls can be reborn into the world of the living.

Trivia
- The main inspiration for her design is probably the Aztec goddess Coatlicue, giver and taker of life, whose face was formed by two snakes,
- Life's design seems to be inspired by the caduceus, the traditional symbol of Hermes that features two snakes winding around a winged staff. The double snakes of the caduceus represent duality and the unification of polar opposites, much like Life's relationship with Death.
- Another resemblance to that of Life's design is the Ouroboros, an ancient symbol of a serpent consuming its own tail. Symbolically, this represents the cycle of life and death, especially in the sense of something constantly re-creating itself. The Ouroboros frequently represents an infinite cycle; in particular, that of nature's endless creation and destruction.
- She seems to speak fluent French, as when she hears that New Death is cancelling reincarnation, she says "Après tout ce que j'ai fais pour ce garçon, après tout ce que j'ai fais pour lui. Non mais c'est pas possible, ce n'est pas possible. Non ça me.. ça me met en furie complètement! Mais c'est pas possible." This translates to: "After all I did for that boy, after all I did for him, no, it's not possible, it's not possible no, that.. that makes me so mad but it's not possible."
